Mission and Vision

Mission: To provide impartial, competent and transparent assessment that gives organizations, and the people who rely on them, justified confidence.

Vision: To be the certification body that organizations choose because our process is clear, our auditors add insight, and our certificates hold up to scrutiny anywhere they are presented.

Our Core Values

  • Impartiality: decisions are based on objective evidence alone.
  • Integrity: we report what we find, clearly and honestly.
  • Competence: auditors work only in areas where their competence has been evaluated.
  • Transparency: our process, rules, complaints and appeals procedure are public.
  • Confidentiality: client information is protected and used only for certification purposes.
  • Responsiveness: clients get clear answers and a named contact.

Our Commitment to Impartiality

Impartiality is the foundation of credible certification. We identify, analyse and manage risks to impartiality on an ongoing basis. We do not provide management system consultancy to the organizations we certify. Auditors do not audit organizations where they have a conflict of interest. Certification decisions are made by competent people who did not take part in the audit.

Certification Integrity

  • Certificates show the standard, scope, sites and validity dates.
  • Certificates are suspended or withdrawn when requirements are no longer met. Their status is updated in our public verification system.
  • Clients must follow our rules on the use of certificates and certification marks.
  • Complaints about certified clients are investigated.

Competence

Our auditors are selected, trained and evaluated against defined criteria for each standard and technical area. We monitor their performance through witnessed audits and file reviews.

Quality Policy

We maintain a management system that supports consistent, impartial and competent certification. We set objectives, measure our performance, act on client feedback and complaints, and improve continually.
